Fictional planning example for one straight, dry storage wall. The workshop checks dimensions, materials, price and timing after a measure-up. Stages exclude the wait for a visit and gaps between stages.
No full-height doors included. The example includes a check measure, selected standard fittings, manufacture, local delivery and fitting, and clean-up. Demolition, disposal, stone, other trades, wall repairs, permits, difficult access and other door systems are assessed separately.

Bays are up to 600 mm wide between 18 mm shared panels and two 50 mm fillers. Each shelf bay has four adjustable shelves, each drawer bay four drawers and two upper shelves, and each hanging bay one rail and an upper shelf. Mixed wardrobe puts half the bays (rounded down) to hanging, then one drawer bay, then shelves.
The budget adds a $1,100 setup to $1,250 per metre of wall, plus $650 per drawer bay, $120 per hanging bay and $250 per hinged front, then applies the finish (painted 118%, veneer 135%). The range runs from that figure rounded down to the next $100 up to 25% more, rounded up. Clear storage capacity is unchanged by the door choice in this simplified model.
Sample rates for this fictional demo, prepared 12 October 2026, to be reviewed before 1 February 2027.
Fixed examples: Open shelves on a 2.4 m wall · Mixed wardrobe with hinged fronts

Six example ranges
These broad room-package ranges differ from the planner. Every amount is an assumption made for this demo, in AUD including GST. A job may fall outside its range; we assess the scope rather than show a low starting price.
- Kitchen cabinetry$18,000–$42,000Written for this demo as a rough guide for one standard room.
- Built-in wardrobes$5,000–$20,000Written for this demo as a rough guide for one standard room.
- Laundry cabinetry$7,500–$18,000A rough guess for this demo.
- Living-room and alcove storage$3,000–$11,000Written for this demo as a rough guide, with a different scope from the wardrobe example.
- Under-stair storage$4,500–$13,000Not yet checked against local jobs.
- Home-office joinery$5,000–$16,000Not yet checked against local jobs.
Custom or flat-pack?
A standard room and a standard size may suit a modular system. Bespoke cabinetry can account for awkward widths and a specified internal arrangement. Compare the installed scope and who takes responsibility for fitting.
Small jobs
A window seat or a small awkward cabinet is worth describing. Send a short brief and we'll check whether it fits our workshop. We review the first enquiry at no charge. If a visit or design service has a fee, we explain it before you agree.
What moves price and time
Width, drawers, doors and finish move the planner. In a real job, access, wall condition, hidden services and other trades matter too. Before you sign has the questions to ask.
Compare the same scope
